Merry Christmas, one and all! [Dec. 24th, 2007|08:39 pm]
Oh holy night! The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of our dear Saviour's birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining,
Till He appear'd and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.

Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angels' voices!
Oh night divine, Oh night when Christ was born;
Oh night divine, Oh night, Oh night Divine.

Led by the light of Faith serenely beaming,
With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.
So led by light of a star sweetly gleaming,
Here come the wise men from Orient land.
The King of Kings lay thus in lowly manger;
In all our trials born to be our friend.

He knows our need, to our weakness is no stranger,
Behold your King! Before Him lowly bend!
Behold your King, Behold your King.

Truly He taught us to love one another;
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother;
And in His name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
Let all within us praise His holy name.

Christ is the Lord! O praise His Name forever,
His power and glory evermore proclaim.
His power and glory evermore proclaim.

Christmas music [Nov. 1st, 2007|10:48 pm]
[Current Music |Santa Claus is Thumbin' to Town - Relient K]

Damnit. I wasn't going to start listening to this music until the 23rd (of November, yes). I swear.

But my favorite band (Relient K) surprised me by being here in concert tonight (more details in LJ tomorrow). And of course they have a new CD out. A Christmas CD.

*sighs and bows to the inevitable*

Relient K is performing tonight? Here!? How did I not know about this?

*dashes off to see if any tickets are available*

Dumbledore was gay?!

This explains so much. Too bad I left all my books at home this semester. Must reread them over Thanksgiving.

My Life is a Furious Ball of Nothing [Oct. 18th, 2007|11:17 pm]

I predict this will be either the title of a Dilbert book or calendar.

No, you're not seeing things. [Oct. 18th, 2007|11:04 pm]
I've finally renamed my journal to brotherflounder

I think that that's finally the last recurrence of my old username (turbotails16) which I came up with at 13. I changed it to Turbo on TrekBBS a couple of years ago.

New School TrekBBS Quote #4 [Oct. 8th, 2007|10:11 pm]
Christopher: In fact, the Enterprise-B fell through a spacewarp into the Delta Quadrant, where it was assimilated and turned into the flagship of the Borg's controlling intelligence. From that point on, it was the Queen-B. Then it was rescued by a wizard and became the Spelling-B.
Lorraine Anderson: To B or not to B?
Christopher: It became the Two-B after it passed through a subspace divergence field.
Xeris: After Demora Sulu, the new captain was Oh B wan Ken-Oh B
Julio Angel Ortiz: There's a special circle of Hell reserved for you all.
Lorraine Anderson: Who, me? How can that B?
JD: Let's just hope it doesn't go out of phase and join with the Enterprise-C, because they we'd get the BC.
Trent Roman: At which point Picard shows up fresh from the timewarp in First Contact to chide them for their lack of scientific accuracy in dating: it'll be the Enterprises BCE.
Rosalind: You're all banned.

New School TrekBBS Quote #3 [Oct. 7th, 2007|12:24 am]
elton: It would be cool having him back with the shame of being removed from TNZ hanging over him for everyone to laugh at.

KIRK1ADM: That is an interesting position for you to take.

elton: What's this. Surely not the improbable return of a former-central character that the audience loves to hate, complete with dramatic opening yet in-character one-liner.

We've finally completed our transformation into day-time soap. The ratings must be through the roof with this unpredictable turn of events.

I wonder if we'll start getting paid now.

Attention Jericho fans...again [Oct. 4th, 2007|01:53 pm]
Ignore what I said yesterday. CBS's Kid Nation is falling like a rock - it only had 7.5 million viewers; 4 million fewer than Deal or No Deal, 5 million less than Pushing Daises, and 3.5 million less than Jericho in the same timeslot last year.

I could see CBS slotting Jericho back in its original timeslot after next week - that would put the last four episodes of Season 2 in the November sweeps. If Kid Nation keeps bleeding, they'll really have no choice here; they're not going to start The Amazing Race this late in the year. It would put the finale in December, and people have better things to do at the end of December.

Attention Jericho fans [Oct. 3rd, 2007|12:50 pm]
CBS's new drama Cane slipped over 1.6 million viewers this week (down to 9.24 million) from last week, and it's been getting mediocre reviews as well. This could be on the chopping block sooner rather than later.

The problem? It's on at Tuesdays at 10 pm. Against L&O: SVU and Boston Legal.

The other problem is that The Amazing Race 12 won't be ready for at least another month and CBS's only other replacement option is a new series. So if Cane is the first to get the ax, Jericho will almost certainly be going into its spot. With so few replacements, they probably won't ax Kid Nation until The Amazing Race is ready.

Pray that CBS is smart and puts CSI repeats in Cane's place instead of Jericho. I know y'all want it back as soon as possible, but you don't want it here. Hell, Sunday at 8:00 would be better. (Actually, that would be better. That timeslot saved The Amazing Race after the ninth season's scheduling disaster.)

I updated my Stargate Atlantis avatar for Season 4. (I slowed down the text frames and added Carter.) I'll have to update it again when I get a good screenshot of Keller, though.

I refuse to remove Carson and Lizzy, though. Just my little way of protest.

"Is our children learning?" [Sep. 26th, 2007|05:44 pm]
Today, we finally have the answer to that question.

Childrens do learn.

As of this post, we have 481 days, 19 hours, 10 minutes, and 10 seconds to go.

New School TrekBBS Quote #2 [Sep. 23rd, 2007|04:15 pm]
Harmon Bokai: Fidel is a tired, old man. Even if it weren't moronically stupid to drop a bomb on him why waste the money? Drop a couple of sacks of TacoBell on him and be done for by the weekend. All without senselessly harming innocent cigars.

New School TrekBBS Quote #1 [Sep. 20th, 2007|04:42 pm]
[info]biggles69 has recently been running a series of old school TrekBBS quotes. Not having been around long enough to have any old school quotes, I've decided to start compiling a list of new school quotes.

elton: It's a mistake that future generations will frown upon, and not allow to repeat.
14thDoctor: People used to say that about the Holocaust. Look how that worked out.
elton: Was there a second Holocaust?
SquiggyFM: These Are The Voyages was pretty close.
